Our Goal
At Oklahoma Spine & Neurosurgery, we understand that your time is valuable. We know that traveling long distances may be painful and inconvenient for many of our valued patients. For these reasons, our mission is to bring outstanding neurosurgical and spine care to you. We welcome all patients to our clinic and give the convenient Telemedicine option to those unable or too far away to come in person to the clinic. To accomplish our goal of delivering first-class care close to home, we have established a relationship with Southwestern Medical Center and local providers. Below you will find what you’ll need regarding your first visit, what to expect when you arrive, and what insurance plans we work with. When you call to make your appointment, we will gather as much patient information as we can. We will then schedule you for the most convenient option available.
What To Expect For Your First Visit
Please bring the following items for your first visit:
- All x-rays, MRIs, CTs, or other films & reports you may have relating to your visit.
- Any recent lab work.
- All of the medications (names and dosages) you are taking at this time.
- Your insurance card and co-pay.
- Your drivers license or other form of identification.
- Your referral from your primary care physician (if required by your insurance company).
- Our office can help to facilitate the provision of these films, reports, lab work, and referring physician documentation.
What to Expect When You Arrive
When you arrive, our friendly staff will greet you, collect your paperwork, and if applicable, collect any fees required by your insurance plan. Please note that all fees related to your new patient appointment are due before you see the doctor. While your paperwork is processed, you may relax in our comfortable waiting room. Our staff will then seat you in an exam room, where you will discuss your history and symptoms with one of our medical assistants. Any imaging studies you have will be loaded onto the computer at this time. The doctor will then conduct a physical exam, ask follow-up questions related to your history and symptoms, and discuss your imaging studies with you. You will have ample time to ask any and all questions you may have. You and the doctor will then discuss and agree on the next steps, based on everything you’ve covered during the visit.
At Oklahoma Spine & Neurosurgery, we focus on a conservative approach to care. So, if your condition is one that may respond to non-surgical options, we will help you exhaust those options before a surgical treatment plan is considered. Likewise, if you don’t have imaging studies yet, and the doctor believes they may be helpful, we will help you get those sent to the most convenient imaging center for you. If you have already exhausted your conservative therapy options, or your condition is one that will not be responsive to non-surgical therapy, you and the doctor may discuss the surgical options available to you during your new patient appointment.
